About Me

My given name is Nicola derived from Nikos meaning "victory", and laos meaning "people"

"Victory for all People" is my intention

Therapy for individuals in a safe, comfortable and private setting

My journey has been a rich and varied tapestry of experiences, some better than others. I have sought knowledge not just through academic learning but also life experience. I have travelled and worked in different cultures across the world, which has always challenged and further stretched my openness to our differences, and deepened my belief in our amazingness. This is an ongoing process that will last my lifetime.

At the centre of all of my roles held has been working to facilitate the expressions of the uniqueness of every individual, enabling all to fulfil their potential of their own ordinary brilliance. I am passionate about people, and what they can achieve individually and even more so together.

As your therapist, I will provide a safe space within which you can explore any issues. In therapy sessions with me you can express your feelings and gain deeper insight into yourself and your relationships with others. Our sessions are confidential, so you can talk about things you might not feel comfortable discussing with anyone else. The goal is to help you find better ways to cope and to bring about changes in the way you think and behave that will improve your mental and emotional well-being.

Making the decision to see a counsellor is a big step to take - but it can be a positive one. Please read on to find out more about how I could help you.

How I work...

I work on the basis that that there is no 'one size fits all' approach with an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. I take an open-minded approach with my clients, using whichever methodology that seems to be the most appropriate. As a Humanistic trained therapist, I work integratively utilising a breadth of Psychotherapy modes. These include:

  • Person-centred Therapy
  • Transactional Analysis
  • Gestalt Therapy
  • Meditation and Mindfulness
  • Psychoanalytic Therapy
  • Object Relations

Life can crash around us without warning and we can find ourselves drowning, unable to breathe or pick ourselves up. Yet the storm always passes, leaving everything fresh ready to start a new.
